Nia K. Perkins
Focused On Finding Efficient And Effective Legal Solutions
Nia graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a minor in Psychology. She earned her Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law, where she was on the Dean’s List and graduated with Honors. As an Associate Attorney with the firm, Nia focuses on employment discrimination, personal injury and general civil litigation.
While in law school, Nia participated on the school’s mock trial team and competed against an array of law schools across the nation. In 2016, Nia competed against students from a multitude of California law schools in the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice National Criminal Trial Advocacy Competition, where she won the First Place George Porter Best Advocate Award. In addition, she placed fifth in the Buffalo Niagara Trial Competition, first place in the McGeorge Trial Competition, and was a semi-finalist in the McGeorge Moot Court Competition. Nia began her legal career working for the Office of the Public Defender for the County of San Diego.
While working for the Public Defender’s office, Nia assisted in the development of a human trafficking collective prevention program. The program educated children, parents, and teachers to identify the signs and warning signs of exploitation and offered assistance to those who escaped their predators.
Prior to joining Holben & Associates, Nia worked as an attorney for a consumer protection and personal injury firm, where she represented individuals against large manufacturing companies and corporations. She is passionate about representing injured, vulnerable, or aggrieved persons, and she continues to employ this passion while litigating for our firm.
Nia is also a devoted member of the Lawyers Club and the California Women Lawyers Association, through which she helps develop programs and network opportunities for women and minorities in the legal workplace.
During her free time, Nia is an avid dancer who teaches dance classes at the Boys and Girls Club of San Diego. She loves to cook, eat, travel, and spend time with her family.
